The countryside around Southam has plenty of great walks, cycle routes and bridle paths as well as country pursuits such as clay pigeon shooting, fishing, horse-riding, polo and even alpaca walking!
Burton Dassett and Ryton Pools Country Parks, Draycote Water, Ufton Fields and the Brandon Marsh Nature Reserves are close by, and local greenways and canal towpaths can easily be explored on foot or by bicycle.
Southam town itself has two parks – the recreation ground near the centre of town has plenty of open space and lots of play equipment for children of all ages to enjoy. Its grassy amphitheatre is also the venue for popular town events. Merestone Park on the edge of town is a lovely open space popular with dog-walkers, providing breath-taking views of the countryside from its highest point.
Details of outdoor activities such as canalboat hire, watersports, fishing, wildlife spotting, horse-riding, shooting, golf, picnic areas, gardens & parks can all be found in our Things to See and Do section.
Southam has its own cycle shop, Rockinghams on Market Hill, and Warwickshire cycling club is based in Stockton, GearsforFears. The local Ramblers group also organise a regular programme of walks.
