Southam Mop Fair

Southam’s Annual Mop Fair takes place in October each year and draws families into the town from a wide area.

The Mop is opened officially at 3.30pm and there are fairground rides and sideshows suitable for all ages throughout the town centre, which is closed to traffic for the duration of the event.   There is traditionally a hog roast (organised by Southam & District Lions) in the car park at the rear of the Post Office, with the pork & stuffing baps ready from approximately 6.30pm.  Raffle tickets will also be on sale and the draw takes place at 7.30pm – first prize £100!!

The Mop is one of the highlights of the town’s entertainment calendar and has a very long tradition.  Adults and children can enjoy an evening of thrilling fairground entertainment in a traffic-free environment.  With Candy Floss, Toffee Apples and Hot Dog stalls, and local food outlets open to keep everyone fed and watered.

Then overnight, the Mop disappears, and the town is back to normal again.

Please note, the date of the Mop is traditionally the first Monday after the 11th October, however, this may change slightly, year on year, but is always a Monday evening in early October.  Southam Town Council organises the street closures and liaises with the Fairground ride organisers, so in case of doubt, please contact the Town Clerk.
